HAWMC_2012_dayprompt-6Health haiku. Write a haiku about your health focus. 5 syllables/7 syllables/5 syllables. Write as many as you like.

My haiku literally just flowed out in less than a minute.  Admittedly, it’s somewhat dark, but it is honest and real and it ends on a high note.

Wow, thirty-two years.
I thought I’d be dead by now.
Never stop striving.

  1. I don't think that it is that dark - most people were told they wouldn't live 20 years. You proved them wrong!

  2. It's not dark, it's a statement of perseverance! It shows hope and success! :)

  3. You said a whole hell of a lot in 17 syllables. Brava!

  4. I'm doing the HAWMC too - I like your haiku. You can check mine out if you are interested at

  5. i agree with the others, it's not dark. it shows strength, and a will to live and a will to win!

  6. Karen, I was stunned when I read your post. It reminded me of Laura, a friend who fought her Type 1 until the day it killed her. Your attitude is so much better, so much more open and accepting. Keep up the good attitude! I think that attitude makes a difference. In my husband's new journey, I think that our "teams" support and ability to laugh at ourselves helps him. My blog following our ups and downs can be found at

  7. dude, my kid gets way darker than that on the regular. i found it inspiring, especially with the accompanying photo. <3
