That's a good idea, the coffee urn for a sharps container. I use a laundry soap bottle. Actually, that's a lie. I rarely use one at all. Bad diabetic, bad! But when I do use one, it's a laundry soap bottle.
I use an empty laundry detergent container (It smells nice everytime I open it) :) but a big coffee container would allow for a much bigger opening to throw everything into (and probably a great coffee smell too. Great idea!!!
I love my insurance company because they send us sharps containers free as part of our plan, but they seem to run out of space very quickly in my house--currently, there are used lancets and strips scattered in a HUGE pile around my father's one. He's due for getting one in about a week, but the laundry soap bottle is a great idea!
Goodness, does that mean I don't actually have to buy sharps containers at the pharmacy? Maybe that's why the phramacist looks at me funny when I ask for one.
I use old RX bottles for my lancets and strips. I like the coffee and laundry soap ideas but the RX bottles fit on the shelf so nicely. Between myself and my 93-year-old mom we have plenty....dammit. :)
I'm a Knitter and a Type 1 Diabetic. I'm not a medical professional nor am I giving medical advice - I'm just a girl sharing my personal thoughts and experiences with diabetes. I live in New England with my wonderful husband, my adorable cat, and lots and lots of yarn.
