Test Strip Containment . . .

I am convinced that I've gotten some of the best ideas ever from other diabetes bloggers.  Last week I came across Natural Born Cyborg's McGyver Moment post.  The minute I read about using a pill box on a key chain to hold used test strips, I knew I had to try it too.  So off I went to the drug store, where i found this pretty silver test strip pill holder.

Perfect!  Attaches right to a zipper in my meter case.  And has plenty of room for dead strips!

Pretty cool, right? No more trail of test strips following me!  Thanks, Virtue, for a great tip!!

  1. Your meter case is really cute. I just use the one that came with the meter. Ugly and black. But there is always a pocket on the inside and that's where I put all the used test strips. I empty it out when I think about it or when they start falling out on their own. I found two in my bed last night! The pill box idea would probably work better.

  6. Oooh, I love this! Right now I just slip them into the mesh pocket in my PDM case (yes, the one that came with the PDM 3 years ago, and is looking like it's been mauled by lions.) And every 3-4 days I leave the zipper open and have a test strip avalanche. I'm definitely going to have to look for one of these...!

  8. Oh your meter case is so cute! That is a great idea, like everyone else I just shove dead strips in the little pocket until they overflow.

What always makes me chuckles is when I am out somewhere and one accidentally falls out, if I notice it of course I pick them up, but often I don't notice and someone will pick it up, like it is some important piece of medical equipment. Nope just my used DNA, thanks anyway.

  11. For everyone who asked about the awesome meter case, it came from Stick Me Designs. It has tons of storage pockets and is very sturdy and well made. :) I blogged more about it here it in April.

  13. That's one of the coolest ideas i've heard! It keeps dead test strips and lancets out of reach. I have a couple of those sturdy little metal things in my drawer in the bathroom. I'm gonna put one to work! You can also run over them with a Hummer and it wont do any damage! I have been using them for diabetic medications, but your idea is really wonderful! Good thinking!!
