What 44 in the Grocery Store Looks Like . . .

44
It isn’t uncommon for me to go low when I grocery shop.  Usually I'm okay.  Yesterday?  Not so much.  Yesterday I could barely fight back the tears that wanted to burst forth.  I did fight the tears, but not the urge to load my cart with the junk food in the picture.  And that completely humiliates me.

I really hate grocery shopping.

  4. Been there, done that. Always nice to read of someone else who makes these crappy diabetes experiences and to feel well understood!

  5. I've gone low in the store a few times and every time there are tears. It's so weird.

  6. I was around an adult who recently had a low (in the 30s) in front of me. She was tearful, it gave me a whole new appreciation for what Joe must feel like. Thank you for posting and (((HUGS)))...btw, your choices look yummy!

  7. I don't know what it is about supermarkets and lows; I once had one when I was living in California at the (in)famous Marina Safeway in San Francisco depicted in Armistead Maupin's "Tales of the City". It may be because supermarkets are so closely connected with food or something that these are natural places for them! In any event, I'm glad the only damage was to your food bill!

  9. I dropped down to 40 in the store once, and besides bawling my eyes out in the candy isle, I had to hand the cashier a half eaten bag of gummy worms, and an empty juice container, he looked at me like I was nuts, and wanted to know if I knew I was purchasing an empty container! uh... Duh! Hugs to you! Don't feel bad, I agree with the mints! Yum!

Sorry you had a low, but at least it was in a convenient place! (that whole silver lining bit)

  13. I hate grocery shopping too. I seem to always go low there, and obviously, it's simultaneously the best and the worst place to go low.

  14. Yeah . . you know how most people say don't go grocery shopping hungry? For me, that translates into don't go grocery shopping low. Because I will buy the whole store! Or at least clear out the candy and chip aisle! ;-)

No worries, it happens to the best of us!

  16. i've done this! The cashier then asks you if your diabetes is from eating too much sugar.... don't you LOVE that question?
